Farm fresh prechickens
That particular chicken is definitely knocked up.
Mark Kelly did make a video
I'm not sure exactly what he is trying to show us- how great the kool-aide will taste after the "touch a gun, go to jail act" passes? Seems to me that it would be damned inconvenient to have to drive to a gun store each and every time you want to hand a gun to a friend to look at. Poorly written laws are poorly written for a reason. Especially when straw purchases and selling guns to prohibited persons are already illegal. Maybe his is trying to show it happens too quickly- move to Illinois. Wait a month or two for your super secret card to be approved.

Gah Country Music WTF
I remember having an 8-track called Kickin' Country as a kid. I think we wore that thing out, still can't find half the songs on it. They would have to call the modern version Cuttin' Country.
Added: Here you go, Angus:
I've got no clue how to add in comments. Plus work, phone, etc.

OPSEC, Gannett and the Des Moines Register Don't Have It
UPDATE- they took down the map in less than one hour.
H/T to Simon Conway
Wow, the offical story is that they are going to put it back up. Probably after their legal team cleans out their underwear.
On Glen Beck's site now, too.
Legal fun
DOMA will fall because marriage should be left to the states.
Prop 8 will be invalidated because states can't decide marriage for themselves.
The legal precedent is known as division by zero.
And nothing
I think I could build a 308 AR; only mags, LPK, and the bolt itself I haven't turned up today while searching. Not necessarily the cheapest 308, or best, mind you. Kinda kicking myself for not buying that cheapo DPMS .308 locally a few years ago.

Mark Kelly told to take his business elsewhere
Looks like Diamondback Police Supply told him to pound sand. Statement below, for those who do not like the book of face:
Statement of Douglas MacKinlay, Owner/President, Diamondback Police Supply Co., Inc.
“While I support and respect Mark Kelly’s 2nd Amendment rights to
purchase, possess, and use firearms in a safe and responsible manner,
his recent statements to the media made it clear that his intent in
purchasing the Sig Sauer M400 5.56mm rifle from us was for reasons other
then for his personal use. In light of this fact, I determined that it
was in my company’s best interest to terminate this transaction prior
to his returning to my store to complete the Federal From 4473 and NICS
background check required of Mr. Kelly before he could take possession
this firearm. A full refund was sent to Mr. Kelly, via express mail, on
Thursday of last week.
The Sig Sauer rifle will be donated to the
Arizona Tactical Officers Association where it will be raffled off to
generate funds the association can use to purchase much needed tactical
equipment for the organization’s members. The A.T.O. A. represents the
SWAT and Special Response officers of the state’s law enforcement
community who regularly place their lives on the line to protect the
residents of this state.
Additionally, Diamondback Police Supply
will make a $1295.00 contribution (the selling price of the M400 rifle)
to the Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program that teaches children, in pre-K
through 3rd grade, four important steps to take if they find a gun. The
emphasis of the program is on child safety, something that is important
to all of us and at the core of the current debate on gun control,”
stated Douglas MacKinlay, Owner/President, Diamondback Police Supply
Co., Inc.
Again, and let me repeat: LOL
JPFO on line one for MSNBC
I am sure that Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership would love to discuss how anti-semtic their views of Bloomberg are. I've never understood any Jew wanting to disarm others. I guess those who fail history are either condemned to (or wish to) repeat it.
NY police to get normal capacity magazines legalized
Get some popcorn
*Actually, they will be stealing 40% of all deposits above $130,000 dollars, not just monies of alleged criminals.
** Amazing how something that is supposed to be a poison pill, like mandates, can be an albatross around the Republicans neck at a later date.

Illinois FOID Unconstitutional
On a Fifth Amendment violation, no less. At least for 18 to 20 year olds. This was by a Cook County judge, not a judge out in the free part of Illinois.
LOL
Hat tip to Second City Cop.

Banned from Facebook
If you are familiar at all with her, um, shooting attire, you will understand that the following link the photo in question on her tumblr account is NSFW. Which might also explain the ban on Facebook. She normally airbrushes the good bits out, so I guess the combo of the gun and the rest of the photo pissed someone off enough to rat her out to the Facebook censors.
Magic!
Now if some BCGs that don't suck will shake loose, and ammo reappears...
Nice parts
I've been following the sagas of people having problems with the AR Stoner BCGs. Look at the ejector from this bolt. You could barely move it with a cartridge hooked in the extractor, and it didn't have full travel.
I swung by Rhine Group, and they swapped the crap ejector out for me. Now it moves freely. Yes, I would rather buy a BCM BCG in a heartbeat. Never in stock when I am looking.
Since they did it for the parts cost, I'll point out they have some rifles in stock. Eagle Arms (sorry, I know they are on the boycott shit list) with non chrome lined barrels. 16" middy. Just under 1k. My opinion, better than a DPMS Sportacle.

Delivery Free Friday
I also found out my pistol barrel went from processing to backorder-CMMG said it was a normal order when I placed it 5 weeks ago, just that it would have a delay. I was honestly expecting 3 months+, so I guess this is to be expected.
Also, figured out who makes the AR Stoner branded BCG's for Midway. I can't take credit; I found out in a thread on AR15.com.

Last piece of the puzzle
I like Lee's case length trimmers. They can be a pain to trim large numbers of cases, but they work well.

Experiment
Yes, it will glow under night vision. Guess I will give this gun to the decoy.....
I will wash them better next time. The RVG has a slight discoloration where it was
dirty before starting. I did use RIT ND(new formula) and it worked okay. In progress shot below:
I did not know the MOE stippling is little Magpul symbols. This will not work on MOE+ grips, they are rubberized. I tried a chunk of rail cover, no dice there, either.
The Mako stock came out like crap. Where my check rests, a lighter streak remains. Of course no PMag. This is a 6.8. Does it look like a LWRCI?
On to the Iowa Senate
Chuck Schumer wants some random thing
A cruise passenger's Bill of Rights or some random thing. I'm guessing it will somehow give our Navy over to Somolian pirates, or some such stupid thing. Because it would be some 2000 page leviathan bill that would be passed to see what is in it.

Funshow Sunday
Primers were large rifle, pistol, and priced from OMG to HSYHGTBFKM. Wolf primers were $35 for 1k, stopped looking at tables that had primers more than $75 per 1K. And you had to by 5k from him to get that price, otherwise it was $10/100. Powder didn't seem bad, for the powders I use, maybe $2 to $3 higher. 1k bags of spent 5.56 brass ran $60 higher than last October.
The $2000 polymer lower ARs made me grin, especially when two tables down Colt 6920's were only $1300. Pistols seemed $50 to $100 higher. One of the
I did find some cheap flashlight mounts, now I see why no one stocks them.
AR uppers with port door and forward assist were around $110 from a vendor I had paid $65ish last year. A solid meh; I picked up an Aero last week to match my lower for the the same price. Stripped lowers ran from $229 to $300 for unremarkable brands. (Aero to Stag)
.223 ran from $0.75 to $1/per round, maybe more, my brain currently filters out prices above $1/per on plinking ammo, if only to not make me hate every vendor in the place.
Magazines existed; many didn't have prices, but I didn't see any insanely priced PMags. Someone had Troy 3 packs for $90

Targeted ad fail
I will say the CU ad was well done- I know the faces of the people from the local branch pretty well, some were in it.

Feinstein has PTSD
From the article:
"Let me just make a couple of points in response -- one, I'm not a sixth grader," she said. "Senator, I've been on this committee for 20 years. I was a mayor for nine years. ... I saw people shot."
Feinstein was a San Francisco city official when supervisor Harvey Milk was fatally shot in 1978. She was also behind the previous assault-weapons ban, which expired nearly a decade ago.
Wait, PTSD was caused be George Bush and the Iraq war, according to Feinstein:
The problem with expanding this is that, you know, with the advent of PTSD, which I think is a new phenomenon as a product of the Iraq War, it’s not clear how the seller or transferrer of a firearm covered by this bill would verify that an individual was a member, or a veteran, and that there was no impairment of that individual with respect to having a weapon like this.
So I guess she thinks she doesn't have PTSD, because her "you weren't there, man" moment happened in the 1970s.

Pistol Lower is together
McThag noticed that CMMG uses a non-standard grip in their kits- they aren't the only one. I've only bought 1 CMMG kit, but have 2 CMMG style grips. From left to right, MOE+,CMMG, Palmetto?, and Armalite.
When you see it...
Embiggen, if needed. Seems to have a third pin....
I guessing this was taken during a .mil photo op with the troops.

Cool stuff in a box
CMMG sends all kinds of cool stuff with a lower parts kit and gas tube order. And their kit is almost cheating, everything is bagged and color coded.
Added:
Backordered 2-16-2013. Received today. Ordered a barrel 2-9-13 that was "in stock," still haven't any update on that. Yes, the 16" CMMG barrel was an accident, basically.
Weird shipping
I'm buying lottery tickets.
I've been trying the UPS/USPS hybrid shipping again, only this time to work. Sucks ass sent to my house, both in time taken and hassles if the box is too big. That and OPSEC. ;) Might get someone pissy at work, just by sheer volume, but, whatever. Hell, my last order was for a tool,

So Dick's can't get (earnings) up
So Chuck and Diane are fundamentally unserious about gun control
Seems like all they are pushing is the same shit they always push. And not much conversation seems to have taken place. Not that they or their bills aren't dangerous. All politicians are.

Bloomberg's Sugary Drink Ban Halted
Bloomberg still has the balls to use the gun control arguments, too. "We're only controlling portion size, not banning them." You are banning drink cups over 16 oz. Yes, you are banning something.

Beggars can't be choosers
In these magazine scarce times, I'm finding myself buying magazines from makers I haven't tried before. For instance, I picked up Thermold 30 round magazines recently. I found they did not drop free when empty. They had excessive mold flash along the back of the mag. A little shaving of the flash let them drop free.

Facebook spam
Example:
Google just gave me an ad for "port barrels," whatever those are, when I was searching for 11.5" gas port sizes.* Facebook has been hitting me with Luckygunner/Ammo.net ads all day. CCW class ads, stabby thing ads, NRA fundraising stuff.
*Getting annoyed with the ammo sensitivity of my 11.5" barrel, and am looking into what it might take to make it work vs a barrel swap.
This is what happens in gun free zones
In a free state, the proper response is, "Can I be Bernie Goetz?"

How not to build an AR pistol
So far, so good, right? If you look closely, it is a CMMG barrel, chambered in 300 AAC Blackout. That is a Kies compensator, no it is not clocked "right," not that it matters other than the wrench flats. It may get replaced, so I'm not too worried about it right now. Armalite (spit) clamp on front sight base.
I don't think the proportions look right for a pistol:

The first victim of the sequester
Yep, I stole that from someone on Facebook. Guessing Iowahawk already posted it on Twitter.
NICS checks down slightly over January, but up, too!
2,309,393 checks in February 2013 versus 2,495,440 checks in January, a 7% drop. So, are 2.3 millions guns the just in time capabilities of the country? Discounting, of course, that no guns I or others bought received a NICS check by virtue of my Permit to Carry Weapons making me good to go at 4473 time.
If you take it on a day by day basis, more checks were done daily in February than in January due to the 3 fewer days. 80498 checks per day in January, 82478 checks per day in February. At this daily pace, 29 to 30 million checks will be done by the end of the year.
I am damn proud of my fellow Americans. Keep it up, folks!

I had to be a smartass
I ribbed McThag about his Midway order 'processing' for an extended period of time. An order I placed the 28th is finally sitting on Midway's dock today. Karma is a bitch.
Anybody got a good tinfoil hat design?
Part of me wants to think this is to keep used MRAPs out of the wrong hands. And that the MRAPs will be dumped on local PDs to give the local Navistar dealers
Still thinking a better tin foil hat might be warranted.
