Farm fresh prechickens

Sometimes you get a surprise in your farm fresh eggs.

That particular chicken is definitely knocked up.

Mark Kelly did make a video

To prove how easy it is for an astronaut with a clean record to purchase a gun. Funny, I don't see him holding the AR-15 at home.

I'm not sure exactly what he is trying to show us- how great the kool-aide will taste after the "touch a gun, go to jail act" passes? Seems to me that it would be damned inconvenient to have to drive to a gun store each and every time you want to hand a gun to a friend to look at. Poorly written laws are poorly written for a reason. Especially when straw purchases and selling guns to prohibited persons are already illegal. Maybe his is trying to show it happens too quickly- move to Illinois. Wait a month or two for your super secret card to be approved.

Gah Country Music WTF

I made the mistake of leaving the radio on the country hits format station yesterday. When did hit country become an iPod stuck on Emo+Twang? Plus Repeat, because they repeated the same songs every 2 hours.

I remember having an 8-track called Kickin' Country as a kid. I think we wore that thing out, still can't find half the songs on it. They would have to call the modern version Cuttin' Country.

 Added: Here you go, Angus:

I've got no clue how to add in comments. Plus work, phone, etc.

Discussing the Des Moines Register and the map of unarmed schools.

OPSEC, Gannett and the Des Moines Register Don't Have It

The geniuses at the Des Moines Register decided to publish an interactive map of Iowa school districts that don't have resource officers. How insane are newspaper people? Crap, that is a rhetorical question. Screw linkage to those idiots.

The green dots represent armed schools. The red dots are free fire zones. I'm guessing the gray dots told the reporters to FO.

UPDATE- they took down the map in less than one hour.
H/T to Simon Conway
Wow, the offical story is that they are going to put it back up. Probably after their legal team cleans out their underwear.
On Glen Beck's site now, too.

Legal fun

Prediction:

DOMA will fall because marriage should be left to the states.

Prop 8 will be invalidated because states can't decide marriage for themselves.

The legal precedent is known as division by zero.

And nothing

I'm at home with a sick kid today. So, of course, not one cool part comes up in stock.

I think I could build a 308 AR; only mags, LPK, and the bolt itself I haven't turned up today while searching. Not necessarily the cheapest 308, or best, mind you. Kinda kicking myself for not buying that cheapo DPMS .308 locally a few years ago.

Kids and Cigars- SOFA KING WHAT

The FDA is getting set to regulate the cigar side of tobacco. Anti tobacco advocates feel they have chased all the kids to cigars. Now they are hell bent on getting their fingers into one of the last areas they can. Quick check, is it illegal to sell tobacco to a minor? Oh, snap, it is. I don't care if their ads show a 5 year old puffing on a Barney colored cigar that smells like grape flavored dung. As long as they didn't sell her the stupid thing, go away.

Mark Kelly told to take his business elsewhere

LOL.
Looks like Diamondback Police Supply told him to pound sand. Statement below, for those who do not like the book of face:

Statement of Douglas MacKinlay, Owner/President, Diamondback Police Supply Co., Inc.

“While I support and respect Mark Kelly’s 2nd Amendment rights to purchase, possess, and use firearms in a safe and responsible manner, his recent statements to the media made it clear that his intent in purchasing the Sig Sauer M400 5.56mm rifle from us was for reasons other then for his personal use. In light of this fact, I determined that it was in my company’s best interest to terminate this transaction prior to his returning to my store to complete the Federal From 4473 and NICS background check required of Mr. Kelly before he could take possession this firearm. A full refund was sent to Mr. Kelly, via express mail, on Thursday of last week.
The Sig Sauer rifle will be donated to the Arizona Tactical Officers Association where it will be raffled off to generate funds the association can use to purchase much needed tactical equipment for the organization’s members. The A.T.O. A. represents the SWAT and Special Response officers of the state’s law enforcement community who regularly place their lives on the line to protect the residents of this state.
Additionally, Diamondback Police Supply will make a $1295.00 contribution (the selling price of the M400 rifle) to the Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program that teaches children, in pre-K through 3rd grade, four important steps to take if they find a gun. The emphasis of the program is on child safety, something that is important to all of us and at the core of the current debate on gun control,” stated Douglas MacKinlay, Owner/President, Diamondback Police Supply Co., Inc.
Again, and let me repeat: LOL
