An oldie but a goodie. A case covered by me and other gun bloggers last year.
TL;DR version: Progressive is upset that a black man defending himself in the inverse of the Zimmerman situation was tried. (by the local Democrat ;) prosecutor) Typical anti stand your ground nonsense, too. Funny, the jury in the Iowa case had the same result as in the Zimmerman case: not guilty. Of course, Lewis would have had a better result if the DM Register wasn't so rabidly anti gun that their initial story on the incident painted Lewis as some kind of insane street racer with a gun. As opposed to the truth- some poor guy driving home and dealing with two road raging goobers.

I also seem to recall that Iowa's self defense statutes are (were) not as clear as Florida's.
At least that was the case when I escaped Ames.
Little has changed other than Shall Issue. FSA counties still get run by anti gun types, and the Legislature stalls out on cleaning up the laws.
I have a dim recollection of an inversion case.
There was a white guy who beat a black guy to death. That was called a hate crime.
I dig around and see if I can find the specific instance, if any. It's possible I'm remembering a what-if.
