Update on the Self defense acquittal from a few days ago.

Here in the Register. Our church (I have nothing to do with this, don't go congratulating me.) is the one taking donations for helping Jay Rodney Lewis get his life back together.

The church, which already has arranged a used laptop and “just a big care package” for Lewis, is now setting up a fund to assist Lewis. Donations should be sent to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4114 Allison Ave., Des Moines, Iowa 50310. Include a note or write on a memo line that the donation is to be used for “Jay Rodney Lewis.”

Invert Zimmerman and Martin

An oldie but a goodie. A case covered by me and other gun bloggers last year.

TL;DR version: Progressive is upset that a black man defending himself in the inverse of the Zimmerman situation was tried. (by the local Democrat ;) prosecutor) Typical anti stand your ground nonsense, too. Funny, the jury in the Iowa case had the same result as in the Zimmerman case: not guilty. Of course, Lewis would have had a better result if the DM Register wasn't so rabidly anti gun that their initial story on the incident painted Lewis as some kind of insane street racer with a gun. As opposed to the truth- some poor guy driving home and dealing with two road raging goobers.

Iowa Democrats go searching for more Strawmen, instead of debating

That must be where they went, instead of sticking around for debate on the Stand Your Ground bill. 15 of them bolted today instead of sticking around to debate. Guess they can't handle looking like tools after the Jay Rodney Lewis debacle.

Supposedly they left because the bills would make Iowa like the "Wild, Wild West." Yeah, that movie sucked.

Today is the big* Black History Month celebration at the statehouse, too. Guess the antigun sentiment is still very high on the Democrat agenda, even outranking honoring civil rights struggles of the past. So all those shill articles online about Democrats caring about gun rights are wrong? Push come to shove moves like this are awesome. It truly shows where politicians loyalties lie. The BS excuse of "you can't surprise us" with these bills is how the press Dems are going to roll on this one, forgetting all the times they pulled it on the Republicans. The Repubs should have restored the bills to their original wording and passed them on to the senate. That is where the real fight is going to be, anyway.

Listen to about the 30 minute mark. There is a caller that is just about a complete weiner whining "he had too many guns. It's terrible, one man shouldn't have that many guns."

Also, the Register reports of "street racing" are the complete bs. (I know, it is the Register) That street is two blocks long and his driveway is square in the middle. Those drunks were looking for a fight. And kept coming back. Would love to see the squad car video and what was said by the carload of aggressors.

In regards to the racial aspect of Zimmerman being beaten by Martin. Guessing that means Zimmerman is just down to special persecutor Corey, and her reach for the stars second degree murder charge. "Betting on America's" big wish is for this to be continued until next year at a minimum. Don't want to rile up all those "White" Hispanics they are profiling* on the 4473 forms, now, do we?

Not that it would always be the wisest choice, but what if the speedy trial option was chosen? As in what happened to Jay Lewis here in Iowa? I realize in his case, to put it mildly, he had nothing better to do, being locked up with no ability to get bail. With the secondary bonus of an incompetent, antigun media that values the antigun sentiment far above and beyond any other aspect of the story.

I wonder how much money will be owed to the officers losing their jobs over the more and more justified non-action they took in this case?

Added: read some of the later comment thread at Hot Air. Some real winners there, almost like they haven't been following the case since the day it broke.

Search term disapointment

Can't be sure just what this person was looking for- I'm guessing they didn't find it.

I have noticed about 3 .govs in my past history- most seem to be from the boring types (FDA, National Park Service, etc) or so you think. I also get several hits a week for Chiappa Rhino, Skittles and Iced Tea, and the persecution of Rodney Lewis.
