A carjacker in Chicago allegedly told a victim "I'm Denzel Washington bitch, now drive!"
In a free state, the proper response is, "Can I be Bernie Goetz?"

New Windy City Tourism Information Site
Well, new to me. Provides all sorts of fascinating details into the city of Chicago. And it has a pretty cool name, too.

I see not all of the teachers are picketting
Some seem to be online, spamming websites with their cases. Somehow, in a Democrat controlled city, in a Democrat controlled state, the Republicans seem to be at fault for all of it. One comment: ZOMG RAHMBO is to the right of the Republicans on this school issue!!11!one!!*
One thing is for sure: The students are not getting any worse an education by not having teachers there. 58% graduation rate? Why bother?
One thing I've noticed, much of the partisan Chicago media seems to side with the mayor. Interesting. Trying to curry favor, I'd wager. Usually, journalists have never met a strike they didn't like. Or the whole thing is just political theater to set Obama up as some kind of mediator. I don't know if I subscribe to that theory, myself.
*Okay, I rewrote that slightly.

In Soviet Chicago, Government Watchdogs watch YOU
Over at Second City Cop, a post about the supposed government watch dog group Better Government Association. The BGA went after and succeeded in shutting down the DSLC blog. Yes, DSLC had some offensive, disgusting stuff, almost on a daily basis. He was also very critical of the police administration and higher ups in Chicago. Yes, with the clean, open, above board government Chicago has, the BGA is left with nothing to do but harass bloggers who drop offensive words in every post. What a paradise to live in!

Aww, Chicago needs federal help
Guess the gangs haven't done enough damage, so they are calling in the ATF, DEA, and FBI to show them how professionals do it. Wait, I may have that backwards. They have let the place go to seed so badly they need the feds to come in to fight the no snitching crowd gangs. No word if this is in response to the number of people shot near 0bama's Chicago residence recently.

Rumors and speculation- Chicago
Over at Second City Cop blog- see the post All Hands on Deck. Chicago's high murder rate will get national attention from the MSM soon, and the wieners in charge are scrambling to make like they have police in the areas with the highest number of murders.
Let me guess the angle that will be taken. No mention of the strict gun control in Chicago and Illinois, creating a monopoly of force for those in charge and for those willing to break the law. If they do, it will blame the court cases spanking Chicago for banning handguns for the uptick in violence. The guns will have come from "evil dealers" or the "gun show loophole." (ATF Violent Crime Bureau running guns in and around Illinois recently? Look there, media types) No mention will come of the insane practices of the courts in Chicago- offenders back on the street before the officers have even finished the paperwork is a common comment over at SCC.
Why would the mediabe allowed choose to cover this before the election? After all, this is the "hometown" of the President. Are they secretly in the tank for Romney, but not quite allowed to express that opinion?

Hmm, where have I seen this building before?
Nice cover shirt, eh? Too bad there was nothing to cover.
No points for figuring this one out.
Hey, how did a stadium for a real team get in here....
Didn't see ACORN out there

U-505
While in Chicago, we went to the Museum of Science and Industry. We did not do the Mythbusters hands on exhibition, but did pony up for the U-505 interior tour. They didn't allow photos inside; I would have loved one showing that my shoulders would not fit through the bulkheads without hunching and turning sideways. If you want to go, get your tickets at the gate, don't wait until you get to the sub to buy the tour- good chance it will be sold out, or several hours until the next tour is open. You can still look over the exhibit, just not go inside.

File this under knowing your killer
A home invasion went wrong last week in Chicago- apparently one of the crew forgot trigger discipline for a minute and BOOM! HEADSHOT! one of his fellow tax collectors thieves. Apparently even in Illinois that is a crime worth locking someone up for; usually, it seems only the law abiding citizens run afoul of the law using guns in and around Chicago.

Not bad seats
Too bad the Cardinals didn't win. Sunday was my first visit to Wrigley Field. The beer is sold just up at the top of the stairs, the vendors hit us OFTEN, it wasn't 100 degrees out, nice breeze, and the fans around us were decent with just the right amount of 'screw the Cardinals' without being obnoxious.
Was caught up in a flash mob while visting Chicago
No, not that one.
This one:
If you look closely at the bean, I am way off to the left.
We were wondering why it looked like New Delhi for a few minutes prior to it........
Also ran into a cos-play wedding (Super Mario was there!) and there was some kind of retro 5K/scavenger hunt going on. No clue, just enjoyed the costumes.....

A funny thing happened on the way to Mordor
As we were driving to Illinois, we drove around the curve on I-80 that leads to the Mississippi River bridge. And there was a literal wall of darkness halfway across the bridge, as the Illinois side was in a thunderstorm. I made the comment- one does not simply walk into Mordor.* My wife was not amused.....
*You drive in, apparently. Who knew?

Went to a restaurant featured on The United States of Bacon show- Paddy Long's.
Good stuff. Did not eat the Bacon Bomb. We did get the bacon grenades.

I'm a sucker for Irish places, strangely I am mostly German and Scot. Plus they specialize in bacon. I had a 3 bacon cheeseburger, and more than half of my wife's BLT. (pictured above) I think I had around 3/4 of a pound of bacon before I left...
Oh, and the 3 Floyd's beer.....
Okay, it wasn't the beer I had.* But I want some.
*Alpha King was the beer I had. My wife had something different. I drank most of her second, it was good too.
